Radiographs (X-Rays)
Dental X-rays may be obtained based on your individual needs. The most common x-ray being a panoramic x-ray which allows us to visualize all the teeth, roots, jaw joints, sinuses and many other vital anatomical structures. Bite-wing x-rays may also be obtained as they help us to visualize if there are any cavities forming inbetween your teeth.
Photos
Photos will be taken which aide in visualizing your facial features, teeth, gums and if cosmetic procedures are to be performed are a useful tool in following the progress of your smile transformation.
Soft and Hard Tissue Exam
An examination of the hard and soft tissues will be performed to document any signs of inflammation, infection and irritation. Any problems with the TMJ will be documented as well as all of your existing dental restorations, cavities, broken teeth, position of teeth and any other areas of concern. We will also perform a thorough examination of your gums and supporting structures which will help us to develop a personalized treatment plan to help keep your gums healthy and happy.
VELscope VX Exam
Velscope VX examination will be performed. The special light emitted by the VELscope causes the soft tissues of the mouth to naturally fluoresce. Tissues that are irritated, inflamed or exhibiting abnormal cell behavior such as that of cancer or pre-cancer will show a distinctive pattern through the VELscope lens. We will then document any findings and discuss possible causes and recommend treatment and/or follow-up that is needed.
